Karen is just amazing. Her skills are normal. Unfortunetaly very few people with DS achieve such normal skills. I wish the NDSS would push for treatment. We need to find out what is very right with Karen and make it happen in all individuals with DS.
I have watched this video at least 10 times, and I find it so incredibly inspiring, as someone with depression and not Down Syndrome. Karen has taught me so much about the abilities of adults with DS, and I am so touched by the dignified, structured life she lives. You have so much to be proud of, Karen. Your family is so lucky to have you.
This is terrific!! If everything goes well, I will be working with adults who have developmental disabilities very soon, and I'm really excited!!! :)
