Steve March-Torme and father Mel Torme: "Lulu's Back in Town". A rare performance of two great singers also father and son. This was recorded at "At My Place" in Santa Monica, around 1985. Mel was about 61 years old. Visit Steve's Site http://www.stevemarchtorme.com

  • I'll tell ya something....Steve is a wonderful singer NO MATTER who is father was! This is lovely to watch.

Two generations of tone and phrasing and swing. Keep swinging, Steve!

  • I feel better after seeing this wonderful little piece, I miss Mel's singing so. Not a day without one of his song playing around me.

    Merci beaucoup

  • Steve isn't nearly the singer his dad is, but then, pretty much nobody was. Even as old as Mel is here he still sounds great and only Ella and Louis A. could scat with him. This is one of Mel's best songs (but the recording quality is none too good, alas). He truly was a giant of a jazz singer.

  • nice post.. Mel was one of those giants we miss.. doin the Fats Waller classic..

  • Steve is an outstanding musician and singer with a vibrant personality. He has his own following and rightly so.

  • How neat to see Mel singing with his son! Never even knew he had one! Seems Steve inherited his dad's talent/style.

  • Mel Torme the second, I cannot believe, where is he?

  • Crap..this is GOOD! Thanks for posting. Is Steve still singing?

    We miss you Mel.

  • Chip off the old block! Great stuff from the old lion and the young lion!

  • He lives in Appleton, Wisconsin. He was interviewed and sang on Green Bay TV's Fox 11's "Good Day Wisconsin"this morning(Nov. 5).It should be on their website. He's doing a Mel Torme tribute concert this weekend at Lawrence University in Appleton.

  • I didn't realize Mel Torme had a son who sings. Shame we don't hear more from him. Thanks for posting.
