Chip Davis concludes his first Christmas album with this Austrian carol. Whenever I hear it, I think of someone living in the mountains, playing this song on his violin on Christmas Eve while the snow blows all over the area and sleigh bells can be heard to alert the good people that Santa is on the way. Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!

  • @HanginWithSnakes - yep. This one 'cuts to the core'

  • This is absolutely beautiful ... so peaceful.

  • @abbeyalbright I know how you feel. My grandmother passed away this Christmas Eve. Her last words were "Silent Night" and this song was perfect. I'm still hurting from the pain, but I know that she's gotten her greatest gift of all, her wings. And I know your grandma has as well. Merry Christmas and stay strong.

  • After several years of not really listening to Christmas music, I remembered the other day that I used to listen to this song. I was so excited to find it! Thanks for putting it up, it really took me back.

  • I like to listen to this version at midnight on Christmas Eve as I sit in front of my Christmas tree...

  • @Nikoenig Thank you so much!! I am going to try and make it a happy time because she wouldnt want me to change it just because she isn't with me. I little piece of christmas did go with her but her love and spirit will be with me forever especially this time of the year! Merry Christmas :)

  • @abbeyalbright Good luck dealing with that, my Grandma died almost 10 years ago, Christmas was her favorite time of the year too and to me it feels like Christmas has died with her... I don't think I'll ever get over it. Merry Christmas may God bless us all.

  • This song reminds me of my grandma. She passed away in August and this is our first christmas without her. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, as it is mine. She sang in a choir for 60+ years and music was our life. I can hear her sing this to me. I miss her so much. It just won't be the same. Love you so much Gma Mary!!! Merry Christmas!

  • absolutely haunting live.......responsible for my being a 27 year fan.......

  • I have yet to come across a song as deep or as beautiful as this version.
