Maggie Smith is a fine actress, but Pamela Franklin is the REAL star in this movie. A balance of piercing intellect, and smoldering sensuality. Pamela Franklin takes my breath away!!

Pamela Franklin was fantastic in this role.

Too bad many people will never seek this movie out because of its age or because of their ignorance.

"I beleive, Sandy, I beleive that I am past my prime" - you could tell that was a very hard realisation for Jean.

No matter how many times I have seen this film, it never fails to pack a very powerful punch. Jean Brodie is one of the greatest creations in modern fiction. And when the ending scene is on, I always cry. A fantastic film.

Agreed. I find Sandy to be a wonderfully flawed, complex, yet sympathetic character, even more so than Miss Brodie. The main reason Sandy started an affair with Teddy was to prove to Miss Brodie that she was just as attractive and desirable as Jenny. I think when the affair went sour and Mary McGregor was killed, Sandy woke up and realized what a damaging influence Miss Brodie was. Maybe Sandy did do the right thing for the wrong reasons, but it still had to be done.

Good idea. I think I'll start calling girls gels. People might think that I'm the creme de la creme.

Some of my co-workers are really lovely gels.

Yes, spitefulness and jealously, but in this scene she was able to make it seem like she had virtuous reasons.
