Here we have 18A which came from the Union Pacific in either North Platte, NE or Proviso in Chicago and is headed to Conway near Pittsburg. Then the 3rd loaded ethanol train in my 24 hour count passes. I saw 2 66Q's earlier in the count. 3 ethanol's is more than I've ever seen here.

Next is a decent sized 205 train from Ayer, MA rolling by near track speed, and sorry my camera jumped as the locos pass. I saw 205 the night before at 9:10pm, and then earlier that morning in Chesterton, IN at 6:05am. I've never seen an NS intermodal train so inconsistent (besided the one i talk about below), so I don't know whats going on here. In the past, it's usually by early afternoon.

I threw in this little extra of 20W meeting 175 even though its handheld and misses the front end of 175. I was expecting a 60mph pig but instead I get a 40mph one. Ehhhhh.... 20W is one of the hottest trains on NS. It's a direct run through from the BNSF in L.A off train ZLACNYC9 and has blocks for Rutherford and Croxton. It runs Fri-Mon, leaving L.A. Wed - Sat, and is usually by late into the night, so seeing it this early needed filmage. :) The last time I saw it in Butler, IN was at 4:45 in the morning and the time before that in Goshen at 12:29 am, so that gives you an idea how irregular this train is. This is one of my favorite trains I guess just because its unique in that its a direct run-through and its loaded with hot trailers, all UPS and LTL with maybe a few truckers like White Arrow, but NO JBHunt, Hub or EMP.

175 is negotiating the 10mph curve SB on the Marion branch and runs from Elkhart to Macon, GA.

  • What kind of car is that in the first trail at around 00:18? It looks like some deranged intermodal setup. What the hell is it?

  • @bnsfMAN93 those are actually containers full of trash. they stink like no other

  • @tylerwinks

Oh, yeah, that makes sense. Is it normal to see that few at one time?

  • @bnsfMAN93 I don't usually see them on this train actually and I wish I knew where this car was headed, but id imagine it is just like any other carload - there can be one on some days and 20 the next. But down on CSX's main line a lil south of here the Q390 train from the UP usually has lots of these, and I think they are going to a landfill near Selkirk maybe?
