How i yearn for channel four to bring back the original ident. I used to love the alternative and cutting edge programming. Eventhough it remains one of the few channels i actually rate, i cant help but feel it has sold out by becoming more mainstream. Remember what you used to stand for!

C4 really was bad in those days... It had to change and considering it got to be the most trendiest channel on TV it has change dramatically. I love Network now.

But it's news style has not changed much in my view that that something they need to work on so that it has the same up beat feel as the rest of the network while staying proffessional. They should drop ITN because it the same agency that does the news for ITV, C4 needs to be totally independent.

Yes, don't judge the item by the dub quality - from VHS, yes? I've got lots of these.
I loved the graphics and loved the music - so classy, and I still think so - from the days when C4 was different from everyone else, and a bit special - and the idea of it being a platform for crap like Big Brother would have been unthinkable.
And the long orchestral version, used on the opening programme montage in the very early days is absolutely fabulous, and brings tears to my eyes. Gorgeous.

You know it's interesting that they haven't so much ever changed that logo so much as just put it in different places and situations. If you look closely, the actual '4' is still comprised of that shape, with those pieces.

Me too! In all, I miss the old Channel 4 as a whole. I still think these days C4 should have an arts digital channel called, for talking sake, 4Arts to compliment the other channels.
