Has God ceased doing miracles and healing people in the same manner he did during the earthly ministration of christ and the apostles. Is cessationism wise or is the belief in a God that still heals and does miracles wiser?

  • @ChristopherakaPaul Cessationists do not necessarily deny that God is healing people today. What we deny is that there are gifts of healing allowing men like benny hinn to "perform" them on stage.

The miracles in the early church were allowed by God to confirm the word spoken by the disciples was from Him. Heb 2:4

Miracles still happen today, every day when He performs the greatest miracle of regeneration in bringing a sinner to Jesus Christ.

Beware in looking for sings and wonders Math 12:39

  • I believe that there is no Bible version II or amendments. I believe that God inspired men to write all that we in this modern time to have from the existing 66 books we call the Bible.

Please consider this...is it possible that those who believe in cessationism have not fully understood that the Holy Spirit, He is not adding more to the Holy Bible but is able to confirm the Word of the Bible through modern men?

  • According to scripture, James 1:17: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

To the cessationist, does modern day healing by faith in JESUS Christ exist? Where does this healing come from? If it does not come from God, then who does it come from? And if anyone says, "not God", then remember Matthew 12:22-37.

Also see Romans 12:1-21 - does the entirety of this not apply today?

  • Where did i misrepresent your position? Do you speak for all cessationist. I see that you said that God still heals. Where have I denied that you have said that. I don't agree with you wholly. Where's the logical fallacy in that. I saw your debate, i don't agree with cessationist. Though your position maybe easiest to stomach , I don't agree. The problem with your position is that you have the burden of proof. So let's agree to disagree. Maybe that's a logical fallacy also.

  • How are these logical fallacies. Because you say so. In scripture faith is required for healings and miracles, if you don't believe than you won't recieve a miracle. That's not a logical fallacy that's a logical deduction. I haven't attacked you, But your arguement is weak because your arguement is weak. To say God doesn't do miracles through a human agent anymore is an emphatic statement you cannot prove. Your view is ILLOGICAL.

  • A straw man argument is an informal logical fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by substituting a superficially similar proposition (the "straw man"), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position. You should learn the basics of logic because Jeremiah, 17: 9 WHERE IS YOUR VERSE THAT SAYS MIRACLES WILL CONTINUE? And define miracle to spare us the semantics!!!!

  • YOU SAID,,, "I'm convinced by scriptures that God does miracles whenever he's pleased to. You assert that he has stopped, i disagree." I SAID,, We lay hands on the sick at my church,, I BELIEVE GOD HEALS. BUT BUILD ANOTHER STRAWMAN!!! I would tell you to actually learn the cessations position before you continue to blather on yourself. But learning was obviously never your intent.

  • straw men red herring ad hominem , I guess if you throw those terms around you think you win the arguement but your scriptuers don't prove that miracles have ceased. I assure you sir i'm not easily decieved. I test all things. Your arguement is scriptually unconvincing. I'm conviced by scriptures that God does miracles whenever he's pleased to. You assert that he has stopped, i disagree. I looked at that debate your arguements aren't strictly biblical. And easily refuted.

  • You said scripture please. Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him. WHAT PART OF PAST TENSE DO YOU NOT UNDTERSTAND? 2Ti 4:20, Php 2:27, 1Ti 5:23, 2Co 12:7-9,1Co 13:10. Because people are liars and willfully ignorant and easily deceived by illusion, you need to provide medical verification when claiming someone is healed. I BELIEVE GOD HEALS. BUT BUILD ANOTHER STRAWMAN!!!

  • If you dont even want to see your logical fallacies, then why continue? Here they are,,,, If you don't have faith in the miraculous than i'm pretty sure you will probably never see it. AND,,, I'm not going to be unbiblical and declare that the gifts have ceased beacuse men have come up with what they think is Good reason toaffirm such. i'll do what the bible tells me to do Attacking the man instead of the argument EVEN THROUGH IMPLICATION is sure that is all you can do.
