  • im just gonna go out on a limb and say both cars seemed slow. the mustang appeared to be in drive during the whole race from the sound of it. im almost certain the stang was a auto. either that or he was in fizzith and just slammed the gas. I own a 2002 GT with 410's and cold air with flows and x-pipe and a sct and I walk away from 1994-2000's models Z-28's with same motor lt1 and ls1's. it helps to manial shift the auto. and having hudge ass wheels on the stang didnt help. lots of weight.

  • @tobroke2007 first of all we are starting from 50, idk what makes it seem slow. second, the mustang is a stick. he started in 3rd and then you can hear him shift. and "manually" shifting an automatic does nothing unless you want to start out in a higher gear. but shifting it does nothing. that's why it's called an automatic.

  • @transamphoenix first of all an automatic has gears just like a manual you have 1-2-D=drive and some have over drive. when you race in a automatic, you start off in low 1 then after power ban is where you want it go to 2nd hold it till your rdy to shift to third and by that time race is usually over and you dont use overdrive unless you wonna top end race. and its a lower gear you want not high gears when your racing. thats why you manual shift a automatic and dont start off in high gear.

  • @tobroke2007 oops, meant to say lower. but auto trans and manual trans are totally different from each other. they arent alike. automatics don't technically have gears like a manual, they have clutch packs and planetary gear sets. and the gear ratios are changed hydraulically with the valve body. using a gear other than drive/overdrive is mainly for towing or weather conditions. shifting an automatic like a manual could damage the trans unless it's a modernized trans with sport mode

  • @tobroke2007 not to mention, and no matter what gear you select in an auto, it'll still shift automatically if the RPMs are too high to prevent engine/trans damage. if your starting from a roll with an auto, yea drop it to 3 or something, but from a stop, don't pretend it's a manual, it doesn't do anything but make you look stupid if you blow something up. any other questions?

  • Haha wow, your bud in the Stang can't drive, b/c if he had a 5 speed, he should've beaten the T/A since the 700R4 keeps Trans Am's in 3rd gear on the high way and rarely ever shift into 4th gear.

  • @89pontiactransam my car was in 3rd, because i put it there. under normal driving conditions my GTA goes into overdrive. in town driving, it goes into 4th at 30mph

  • Wow i raced an 02 GT yesterday too! Except my GTA is all stock except for the Flowmaster exhaust but I was able to keep up and pass him. It's funny cause our cars are near 25 years old and those 02 Stang's are 9 years old so idk what's the deal? lack of driving skill? but anyways good shit man.

  • Those rims on the GT look like turd.

  • @fiatch500 And looks ugly!

    Nice video!

  • Ive been drag racing for 41 years. just cause its an auto doesnt mean you cant manually shift it to hold higher RPM's and is even better if you have a stall. and I dont know many cars off top of my head that will shift up if your down in a lower gear. I know some that have a governer that want alow a certian RPM range but not alot that will shift out of it on its on if your down shifting. lets agree to disagree.

  • With the wheels on that mustang im in shock that guy is white...

  • Ricer mustang plus fly by. Uh......
