Peter Asher's sister, actress Jane Asher, was dating The Beatles' Paul McCartney, so Peter and Gordon recorded several songs solely written by McCartney--but still credited, as all compositions by either were at the time, to Lennon/McCartney. Those hits included "A World Without Love" (U.S. #1), "Nobody I Know," "I Don't Want To See You Again," and "Woman." "Woman" is credited to "Bernard Webb"; McCartney used this pseudonym to see if he could have a hit song even without his famous name attached to it. The song reached number 14 in the US and number 28 on the British charts. Peter and Gordon also recorded the John Lennon penned Lennon/McCartney song, "If I Fell."

  • You gotta have a voice to sing!!! Paul McCartney can write you a song or John Lennon but if you can't sing what good is it!! Peter and Gordon pulled it off!!

  • como dice fue una canción escrita por paul mccartney para peter y gordon la cual le quito el primer sitio después de 4 semanas de estar en primer lugar en Inglaterra a " can't buy me love" después ya la tocarían los beatles

  • boby rydell also did this, same time

  • I like Peter & Gordon's rendition of this song much better than the Beatles' rendition. That's saying a lot, cause I really like the Beatles.

  • gordon does look like john lennon..maybe mccartney got him mixed with the actual lennon thats why peter n gordon got this song and not the beatles lol.

  • mccartney should have kept this for the beatles it could have been a single in 1964 or on an lp, what was he thinking of giving it away.

  • How Cool! All these years I "thought" that sounded like McCartney's work. It's totally a Beatle song, if they wanted it to be. Back then Paul wrote songs for several other singers too, if you check around. But, the other songs weren't as "beatle-y" as this one. Like I said very cool... Thanks for the post

  • austin powers !!! jajjaja

  • Great song, but lousy sound quality.

  • gordon looks like john lennon in this video.
