National anthem

(a) Designation. - The composition consisting of the words and music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.
(b) Conduct During Playing. - During a rendition of the national anthem -
(1) when the flag is displayed - A) all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart;
(B) men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold the headdress at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and
(C) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; and

(2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.

Obama, like any free American can place his hand over his heart or not, regardless of what USC 36.301 states. It's his right. I salute the flag while in uniform, yet I stand at attention when I'm not.

Please see section (c), you are supossed to stand and salute if you are in uniform.

Just was refering to the fact that you stated that you salute the flag while in uniform. I think Obama is a great poet of words, but the underlying picture is he has proposed big government programs which will only be affordable by raising every Americans taxes. I am not a not a supporter of big government. I rather would like Americans to control thier money and spend it where they see fit. Not on such things like socialized healthcare or the Global poverty act, which both Obama proposes.
