Risk of chaos and destruction is exactly what the military wants. That's how they get more funding. They don't care whether it is a risk of global warming or cooling or communism as long as they get the money.

The CEO of Shell has simply weighed the long term financial cost of being on the side of the general opinion(dangerous AGW is real) or being against it and the former has won. He doesn't care if the IPCC is right or wrong, he is just trying to make the most money possible.
