The song was performed by Jennifer Holiday on Broadway and she won a Tony Award for her performance. In 2006 Jennifer Hudson performed the song in the film adaptation Dreamgirls. Most recently the song was performed by Amber Riley who plays Mercedes on the hit show Glee.
