The dispersal model is ASR's Pol3DD. The model is forced by hydrodynamic data from the HYCOM/NCODA system which provides on a weekly basis, daily oceanic current in the world ocean. The resolution in this part of the Pacific Ocean is around 8km x 8km cells. We are treating only the sea surface currents. Particles in the model are continuously released near the Fukushima Daiichi power plant since March 11th. The dispersal model keeps a trace of their visits in the model cells. The results here are expressed in number of visit per surface area of material which has been in contact at least once with the highly concentrated radioactive water.

...do you realize that this map gives us no concrete evidence of anything?

  • @Jarmo187

Truth. Also, the intensity of the radiation....this says nothing at all. People need to stop freakin'.

  • japs

  • Disgusting. End of the world, here we come.

  • this is probably why fish are beaching themselves worldwide right now.

  • "80% of all radiation released went into ocean, during March disaster period." That includes plutonium, uranium and other deadly toxic radioactive elements. Other studies have shown that the ocean currents are taking radiation in undiluted form, straight away from plant, rather than this model that shows the radiation dispersing over the whole area. Source of quote: Search Youtube for 'Fukushima 45 ton radioactive water leak poisons ocean'

  • "During the peak of Chernobyl, the Black Sea was registering 1,000 becquerels per cubic meter of water - at Fukushima's peak, it was 100,000 becquerels. Scientists first believed the ocean would dilute it, but Al Jazeera has learned that dangerous concentrations of radioactive caesium remain". Search for 'Ocean Radiation ' on Youtube to watch report.

  • Some 45 tons of radioactive toxic water has reportedly leaked out of the shattered plant and may have found its way into the ocean during this weekend

  • Nice graphics but the reality is it doesn't tell anything about how badly deep see is contaminated. The truth might not be as catastrophic as you want your tin-folio audience to see it.

  • Oh ya @ highman5 you sir are a phuqing liar and a murderer in my eyes!!! Kelp & fish have been found off of the Washington coast 200 to 400 x over legal limits months ago!! and now debris Is showing up possibly plutonium soaked so allow me to say again fuck you and die a horrible death from the radiation you seem to think is evaporating magically into thin air ! ERS!
