It is in reference to the Evil Monkey from Family Guy, there is even an episode where Chris is in a band and they sing a song with the same chorus.

Family Guy? Maybe, but there is a famous video game series called System Shock (one of the scariest horror games ever). SS takes place in space in an abandon ship, filled with crazy evil monkeys shooting you with plasma. I always thought that this band is somehow a tribute to this game. Most of the songs could be easily a soundtrack to SS video game. The cover of "Escape" album looks like a screenshot from SS2 (the corridors).
