This is my Favorite show! It's a shame that kids and teens nowadays don't watch shows like this. Pop culture was so much better in the 196s and the 1970s.
@Mktryk The Johnny Cash Show was in its second season at the time on ABC,so it isn't so strange they'd have him introduce the Partridge Family if you think about it a minute or two. What would have been even better is if they appeared on Johnny's show to promote it.
@Mktryk That was a happy and sad thing all at the same time because those troubled children couldn't distinguish fact from fiction, but were obviously very taken by the whole idea of the Partridge Family, even if they weren't your run-of-the-mill family.
Shirley Jones, David Cassidy and a group who sang on hundreds of tv shows, commercials and records called The Ron Hicklin Singers were the singing voice of the Partridge family. The Ron Hicklin singers released two albums under the name of The Love Generation. The musicians were a crack group of studio players called The Wrecking Crew. They were the backing band on hundreds of top 40 pop records since the sixties.
Whoa! They got introed by JOHNNY CASH?! Who'd have thunk it- and was he even creditted? Ironically, everyone forgot that Shirley Jones could actually SING thinking that she lip-synched like all of them but David Cassidy! Also, it's interesting how many viewers literally wanted to be IN this rather idyllic family- some even going so far as showing up on Shirley Jones' doorstep begging her to adopt them and telling her very sad stories about their actual families!

Oh geez I remember watching that very first episode...and flipping out over David Cassidy. I was something like 9 or 10.

That would explain why Davids hair was shorter in the pilot and then longer when they started filming the series proper.
