@rikomenzies I hate to make the comparison, but this is the same thing that people do with bands like Nickleback. It's the "thing to do". People hear their radio hits and dont realize that they were just made.....for radio (in fact, John talks about this in his Berklee vids on Youtube). Its funny because it gets to the point where people arent even sure WHY they dont like an artist or a band, but if they just listened to all their music, they may feel different. Lucky for u, you gave it a chance

@rikomenzies watch his 2007 Austin City Limits performance, it's just as good.

I think John should stick to the styles of music played in this particular concert, instead of going back to pop based stuff in the mainstream. This seems to suit him better than stuff like Your Body is a Wonderland and other crap...
If he could keep going with this blues direction, he could become a modern guitar legend, like the older generation has Hendrix, Clapton, etc. He could become, in the future, a great guitarist and keep the flame burning for today's younger population.

Hey, his pop music may not be as good as his blues ("suck" to some), but at least his pop tunes like Body is A Wonderland, Clarity and Waiting on the World to Change got him noticed enough to turn the mainstream audiences onto his true-blues! <3 love him!

John Mayer called, and I came.

I used to absolutely dislike Mayer's music because all I ever heard were his pop tunes, and the only people I knew who liked him were either horny women or douchebags who learned his songs specifically to score on horny women.
Then I heard "Where the Light is" in its entirety, and I quickly grew to respect the man's musicality. I still get chills listening to "I Got Dreams to Remember/Gravity." So great.
