He played good agressive in-your-face D If you can't figure out a way to score on a good defender then quit and go play golf or something instead of whining about it. Defense isn't popular in the NBA so I can understand all the little crybabies.

@jcbailey90 Bowen was not nearly on Scottie Pippen's level, and Pippen never got the reputation of sticking his foot underneath a jumpshooter, or kicking guys in the knee, face, what have you. Joe Dumars didn't have that reputation. Michael Cooper didn't. Dennis Johnson didn't. Bowen was a great defender, very physical, but he really deserves a lot of the criticism that he got during his playing days. You can get chippy, but you have to respect the health and safety of other players, too.

@jcbailey90 There's a difference between tough and dirty. Dennis Rodman was tough as nails and got in the grill of people twice his size. Bowen just messes with little guards.

I respect Bowen as a defender. In order to be one of the best defenders in the league, like Bowen was, you have to play a little dirty and play with a chip on your shoulder. Look at Rodman, one of the best defensive players of all time. He didn't play nice and he is a Hall of Famer now. No Bowen isn't nearly as good as Rodman but people need to quit hating on "dirty" players. That's why the NBA has sort of become a baby sport where players whine when they don't get a call
