theres a place in between california and arizona. has rocks the size of beds and bigger of pure black obsidian. called red hill. best duck blinds ever too btw..

Ive never knew what type of materials can be heat treated, is there any "rock laws" that apply to heating certain materials, or do just certain materials benefit being heat treated.

Thanks for the vid , ive been doing it in oven the same way with a huge stainless steel pot about 14 inches high , i take all but one rack outa the oven , lower the remaining one all the way down~~~ done

hey steve does the roster realy work? i am a begginer at knapping. i tried cooking some rocks in my oven before i saw your video it did not work.i love your video.
I also think he is the norm abrem of flint knapping and could have his own show

No....It is sweet, it doesnt take much temp to cook it cause its so fine grained. Also the pieces were small and thin, that helps them survive.
