Remember that in the past anyone who criticed the catholic church was burnt at the stake and/or torutured-- therefore no one criticzed the catholic church prior to Martin Luther and survied

Martin Luther was many things, including an anti semetic and exihibited hatred towards those who didn't agree with his views which is contrary to the teachings of Jesus. All the protestants I know neither canonize him nor regard his as a hero, but do admire him as a biblical scholar. Other than that, arguing over ones religious beliefs seems rather silly.
