What a voice! What a beautiful woman! And her quotes show she had a lot of sense. Her voice is so soothing which is much needed in this world.

Actually doing the song this way was pearl baileys idea, and she's not playing a made she's playing a housewife, originally they had her doing the song on stage with a glamorous background in a glamorous dress, and she saw that this would not work and told them to give her an ordinary house dress and shoes and this home setting, because the song obviously is about how she is tired of her married relationship with her husband.
