  • @343sierra Opinions are like Assholes, everybody's got one. LOL

  • I'm having such a hard time now with my horse's ''bars''. We do barefoot trimming here too, and his hooves used to be so soft, and now, fortunately, they hardened :) I'm really happy about it because he walks and runs alot, which he never did before I started barefoot trimming him. But it's sooo hard to trim him now xD I'm not really strong :P so I struggle alot.

  • @Naessly , Yeah sometimes you need to use nippers to remove them.

  • Awful! the frog needs rebalancing to allow the foot to move correctly and to increase blood flow and aid growth! to much toe is left on on the front feet! and the hinds are trimmed to the wrong shape! heels also look very unlevel it is not advised to trim horses feet yourselves they are dangerous and remeber the saying NO FOOT NO HORSE!! wreck the feet and you wont have a horse!!

  • @macdonaldfarrier

Well sonny you're only 19 yrs. old & I'm not sure if you've ever heard of the saying "It's what you learn after you know it all that counts"

Besides, I don't see any of your knowledge in video form on here?

  • Thanks, I can tell you've trimmed a few. Appreciate the help!

  • I think macdonald needs to get his money back from whatever farrier school classes he took...and to get healthy soles...do what he did in the video...don't touch em...unless its white and flakey and asking to be removed...

  • great explanations!

  • @HoofTech XD

  • @macdonaldfarrier--my horses are doing far better with me trimming than the best farrier I could hire--went through 5 farriers to try to find someone that could keep my mare sound--finally realized I would have to do it myself--she is now sound and feels great--and this guy is a far better trimmer than I am--so if I can do it and bring back a horse from road founder --then he can teach--He is HELPING horses, thank God for barefoot movement--my three mares would be dead instead of enjoying life

  • I found this video helpful! Thanks for taking the time to make it! I need to learn how to keep with my horses feet so I don't need the farrier to come out as after but I'm not confident enough :(

  • nice frog!!!

  • i have my horse barefoot trimmed as well. But i dont think id ba able to cut or maintain her feet like this myself. My farrier said trimming her feet are like trying to cut a rock with a butter knife.

  • I have been watching your videos and notice your horses soles are so nice, smooth and concave. How are you taking care of their soles to keep them thick, functional and smooth? Really liking the bars on this horse too. I am working on helping my mare who has had years of never having her bars trimmed by our old farrier. Least to say her soles are covered in bar and are not this neat looking.

  • @macdonaldfarrier I agree.... UNLESS you get someone who KNOWS how, to show you. We did, and have done it now for YEARS..... I've even reformed the hooves of a Haflinger who's hooves looked Severely FOUNDERED they were so badly misshaped... the hoof will SHOW you what it wants, if you know how to read them... What's your deal.. afraid to LOSE CUSTOMERS?? LOL!!
