極貧の環境にあり学校へ行けずに勉強の機会を失った子供達のためのフリースクール｛寺子屋）を２人の青年が運営する。その寺子屋を訪問し、シェラレオネの社会が抱える教育の現状と将来を取材。子供達の顔には輝く希望の光が満ち溢れていた。
長く続いた戦乱の時代の後に訪れた現在の平和な日々が、この国の多くの民を大なる安らぎへと導いているのかもしれない。ただ、いたるところで、国際社会からの早急な支援を待ち望む声は非常に強い。たち後れている教育行政、なかんずく幼・初等教育は、逼迫した国家財政や困窮する一般国民の財政に起因するところが大きい。
一人でも多くの子供達や青少年達が、より明るい未来へと羽ばたき、この国の自立、疲弊からの脱却に向けて大きな原動力となれるよう、海外諸国や援助団体等による教育環境整備や支援が急務である。
いま、ようやく、地域社会をあげての教育振興の努力と模索が始まったばかりであると言っても良いだろう。
首都フリータウンには「交通信号機」が一台も設置されていない。そのゆとりさえもない現状である。このことは、この国の置かれている財政面の状況を如実に物語っているように思えてならない。

Sierra Leone has become a very peaceful country since about a decade ago after many years of Civil and Tribal Wars spread all over the Country.
The life in the Country, however, has been facing to much difficulty. The Government has not yet recovered its power to sustain the nations which has put them in the very poor living standard.
Even in the central capital - Freetown, no single traffic light is seen due to lack of state budget at all. Thus, there are many government sectors to tackle with for imporvement of the bottom of the society which requires the urgent attention from the international societies.
Above all, educational infra-structure in Sierra Leone seems to be so poor, which requires urgent helps from overseas organizations and governments.
There are many communitay volunteer groups of educational aids who have been longing for the possible assistances from abroad. Only a handful children can attend schools because of bad family economy and less job opportunities to sustain their daily life.
Some young volunterrs try to provide minimum chances of learnings at their private-run small schools to those children who are suffering from poverty. There is an instance of the free-school in Aberdeen, close to Sierra Light House Hotel.
The tiny free schools founded by Mr. Bailor Jallor (founder) and his co-teacher, Mr. Mustapha S. Lebbbie. They are welcome to have any aids and assistances for maintaining and providing the educational chances to the children in the community.
