While that 5% may seem like a large number, the estimated sexual abuse rate among the general male population is between 10% and 20%. The percentage of priests that has been convicted is 4% of the 110,000 priests between 1950 and 2002 with most of these occurring in the 1970's and 1980's. I am not trying to defend those priests who were involved, their acts are inexcusable. I am trying to show that people like to hate the catholic church for being the catholic church.

How many of the people standing in the auditorium support abortion and homosexual behavior? And these people think that believing, promoting, or practicing these things brings them closer to God? They should repent and ask for God's forgiveness for supporting murder of the unborn and dangerous, abnormal sexual practices.

Regarding Rice? She should not have been a selected speaker. But I don't recall her trying to force the Church to pay for immoral behavior via contraceptives through insurance. So much for the constitution & religious freedom! Church teaching regarding war can be found in its Just War Doctrine, par. 2309, Catechism of the Catholic Church. Look it up. The reason why abortion is a horror is because all your "concerns" don't matter without life. And abortion is murder. Are you discerning yet?

Nonesense. As a private citizen, Dolan can show up to speak at any place he is invited to attend. He didn't have to visit both places. Most religious figures who speak at conventions do so with only one party, and they don't get in any trouble for that.

Cardinal Dolan had to show up at the D convention because he had already been at the R one.

If he hadn't, it would have been a very good case for revoking the Catholic Church's tax exempt status.

Did you feel the same about the pro-abortion Condoleeza Rice when she spoke at Notre Dame? (We all remember the big to-do when President Obama did the same.)

What does your Catholic discernment tell you about the war-mongering George Bush? The I've-got-mine-screw-you Paul Ryan?

Why is it that life only matters when it is unborn and not when it needs to be fed or clothed, or when our bombs and drones kill already-born human beings?

I'm not judging, but I discern. As a Catholic, this is very much my business. Many Catholics aren't in good standing with the Church & don't know it or don't care. Biden & Pelosi come to mind as both support abortion yet are allowed to receive communion? Maybe U need to stick UR nose into the teaching of the Church & stand up for it!! By-standers in Germany allowed evil to occur in the 30's. Since 1974, 54M babies have been murdered. Nice try at the "judge not" thing. Its discernment!
