President Obama: Words for How We Feel Now

For this photo essay, I asked people in DC to pick words to represent how they feel this week, at the dawn of a new beginning for the United States. Participants chose from 26 words:

Alive, Angry, Anxious, Awed, Believe, Curious, Dancer, Excited, Grateful, Happy, Hopeful, Human, Humble, Jealous, Joyful, Love, Obama, Patient, Proud, Ready, Scared, Skeptical, Tired, Together, Wonder, Worried

Children tended to choose the words Love and Obama because they are easy. But happy was a close third. For the other participants, Hopeful and Proud won the day. People with family or friends chose Together to represent the importance of experiencing the inauguration with the ones they love.

I don't like him. I was parodying the ridiculous almost religious following that Obama attracted between the months of September 2008 and early January 2009.

Do a google search on satire.

Luckily, the Goebbels-esch following that Obama attracted began to wane in February 2009, and has reached record lows now in January 2010.

The kind of bizarre unfounded adoration that the man had back then was unsettling and unhealthy. At least that phase has mostly worn off.

My words would be angry, skeptical, nervous, and scared. I found out about Emily from the Baltimore Sun's feature on the UN thing since I'm from the same area. HOnestly I think this is slightly propagandist, it is mostly an inner city and yuppie crowd of course they love Obama. Emily you don't have to travel far from home, just go to Carroll County, many parts of Baltimore County, or the Eastern Shore and the vast majority are apprehensive about Obama and his abortionism, weakness on terror etc

I think many people may read your comment as being a bit extreme - maybe it is! - but I must say, I am all for your sentiments to come true.

I am pragmatic - but I believe President Obama to be the most intelligent leader I've ever had the privilege of electing to that office.

He is not perfect, nor am I, nor are you, nor is anyone else.

But, I'm very happy to have such a thoughtful, educated, and contemplative person as Obama as our President.

BTW - you left out Lincoln! ;)

Obama is the best leader we've ever had, maybe the most talented leader the West has ever seen. My only regret is that he doesn't have more influence and power. Honestly, if I could, I would make him King. He is the epitome of perfection in a leader and politician. He will go down with the great influential people in history, such as George Washington, Buddah, Jesus, and Mohammed.
