Father and son, 10, dead in apparent murder-suicide at Oregon coast

Police are investigating a murder-suicide involving a dad and his 10-year-old son on a camping trip in Warrenton.

Rockland Stephens, 49, of St. Helens, had been involved in a custody battle with his ex-wife and she had also previously filed two restraining orders against him

Investigators say Rockland Stephens, 49, ran a hose from the tail pipe into the cab of his vehicle. They said the man and boy, Shane Davis, both likely died of carbon monoxide poisoning while parked at Fort Stevens State Park.

@lisalizapop Do you realize just how nasty custody fights get? The judge has to look at facts not accusations which fly from both sides. I didn't see anything mentioned here that could have reasonably predicted this outcome. Do you have some specific information not mentioned in the video?

It's so hard to judge in these cases since there is rarely any certainty of what will happen. On one hand there is the fear of harm if visitation is allowed and on the other hand there is the danger of one parent or the other being willing to say anything to keep the child away from the one they are fighting with. I feel sory for judges in these situations they're judged with hindsight.

You have to wonder about judges. A couple divorce wife lies and get a restring order the man can’t see the kids.

The man was loving caring never hit the wife or kids.  But she lied. There is no proof that the man harmed any one. The man can’t get the order removed
