GA Trip to Acre Coexistence Programs

When rioting broke out in Acre earlier this year, it seemed the calm of this mixed Israeli city had been broken irretrievably. Jews and Arabs who had lived side by side for decades fought battles against one another in the streets, and some suggested life there would never be the same again.

Not everyone agrees, however. Right in the heart of this poor Northern town, the community is trying to help itself with a range of promising coexistence projects funded by the Jewish Agency that are bringing Arabs and Jews back together in peace.
On a tour there last week, delegates from this years GA, the annual United Jewish communities and Federations of North America's General Assembly, visited Acre to see for themselves four of the coexistence programs taking place there.
