  • core 2 duo!

  • Hi guys!!!!

    Can some1 answer my question?

OK look i have a pentium 4 3.0 (not overclocked)

when i go to *dxdiag* it says this

    Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (2CPUs)

So do i have dual core or no?

    Plz reply soon!!

    THX!

  • you might, i just found out that there are dual core p4, but i think it might just be hyper-threaded whish is kinda a dual core, but know where near the core duo are c2d, hope i helped, just google it.

  • defiantly not, its one generation below, not as power efficient and some faster buss speed and more cycles per second

  • pentium dual-core is better than core 2 duo?

  • @Gun10001 your pc is Pentium 4 HT it has 1 core and 2 threads! it is not a dual core.

  • i think the core 2 duo ,dual core and i3 are almost same!!!!!!!!!

  • Pentium D and Pentium 4 HT are not the same cpus, Pentium D has 2 physical cores in one processor, and 4 HT has 1 physical core with 2 logical logical cores wich is slower than Pentium D

  • @chrischoy9 well i have a pentium D 3.0 ghz 2MB L2 with 2 physical cores not 2 logical cores like the Pentium 4 HT which is slower

  • @Gun10001 Pentium 4 has a technology called Hyper Threading, and what it does is simulate 2 processors, with 1 thread each, so in task manager you will see 2 threads but it really is 1 processor. You can turn hyper threading off in bios, and then it will work like a normal processor.

  • @tbro227 its not a dual core. hyper threading is splitting a core and its resources. This allows it to preform faster in multi threaded applications. But sometimes slower in non multi threaded apps (like some games). If you open up task manager it seems it as 2 cores. One is a virtual core. I have 2 older pentium 4 3Ghz computers. One thats socket 478 (3Ghz 800mhz fsb and 1MB of cache) and a newer socket 775 pentium 4 3Ghz thats 3Ghz 800mhz fsb and 2MB of cache. I have a couple others too

  • dual cre e2200 lose to core 2 duo e7500?

  • I just decided to revive this thread to state that it must be killed. I mean, come on:

Quote: "You MIGHT, I just found out that there are dual core P4's, but i THINK it MIGHT just be hyper-threaded which is KINDA a dual core, but nowhere near. The Core Duo are C2D. HOPE i helped, JUST GOOGLE IT."...

Please, PLEASE go back to your X-Box, PS3 or Wii and educate yourself before discharging crap on YouTube. Get yourself a Commodore 64 and study the 6510, it'll be a good starting point for you.
