This is exactly what happend to people who says:
boat from paper? You are sick, it is imposible, you will sank .
Never say impossible, because usualy there is someone who dont know that it is impossible and simply make it without care. I didnt know it wa impossible, now it is possible as you see.
Nice job. my congratulations.

That's a pretty poor design displayed here. We made a much better one as highschool students. It looked just like a true kayak (pointed ends), fully enclosed all around except for the skirt opening for the paddler. It was made with a single rectangular piece of cardboard that was not cut in any way, only folded. And it was made with paper masking tape only, no duct tape. It was very fast, and didn't take out any water during a 2 hour outing (5 minute race, 1:55 recreation time).

@565565 The criteria for this particular event was "use only duct tape & corrugated cardboard". So, my brother being somewhat of an efficiency expert thought; "why spend time changing the shape & integrity of the box" and "if I'm going to spend any time at all ~ it may as well last". He ended up using this boat all summer; just hoisting it overhead & walking to the river. The comparison of the two boats you are making is an apples & oranges argument. I commend you on a job well done.
