MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (March 28 and 29, 2011) Marines assigned to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (22nd MEU) embark aboard the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5). Later, U.S. Navy Sailors on load vehicles and equipment from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit. The two-day on load brought aboard 1,400 Marines and about 2 million pounds of equipment necessary to provide the Blue/Breen team aboard Bataan the flexibility to perform a wide range of missions during their deployment to the Mediterranean.     I too served aboard an Amphibious Transport

    LPD-8 out of San Diego.
