Amtrak is a nation wide service that is funded through the private sector. Can you show me a private sector rail that goes less than 100 miles that make a profit on it's own? Me neither. The closest I can come it the mono rail at Disney, but it isn't funded BY fares, or IT WOULD be broke.
How many fares does it take to make $580,000,000 + up keep, that travel that 61 miles?

This is insane! what is Amtrak going to say about this? I bet they'll go bankrupt when Sunrail takes over. Seriously, Amtrak needs to do something.

@bishop51807 It is true that the tax payers all over the country are paying $580, 000, 000 for a rail system to go 61 miles in the Orlando area. In the mean time, the federal government has yet to pay back debt where they borrowed huge sums from social security. If they have money to waste on projects like this, they have money to pay back social security. Congress acts like a kid with a credit card; run up the bill, then when you have cash, spend it without paying back your debt. That's true

the Sunrail may not be as fast or greener as Florida High speed rail, but atleast Florida gets a passenger trains and it would help traffic congestion .

you know that the route between LA and LV is dangerus because of all the DUI's, drug smuglers and fugitives this is when LSR comes in. we have fallen behind most countries even europe's most americans dont like being compared to the EU but their eruo is higher than the usd, so it will help. Change is good if it only makes things better but no change has happen due to fear yet no one was afraid to go to war.

oyster creek plant was well built it took the earthquake and the hurricane! real American engineering. We need to invest more in education and not defence! No need to defend a nation of dum asses, damn you Rick Scott first thing he did when he got in office was cut education by 10% which is a lot more than $1 billion dollars don't vote republican just because the president is a democrat.
