During the Military Jeep Club of Queensland's annual Christmas Party (1st-2nd December 2007) I had a ride on a WWII british Bren Gun Carrier. You can see what it looks like in my other video. This is a rare vehicle in Australia as most of the surviving examples are of LP2A local pattern. The armour had been removed during its use as a farm tractor.
The carrier's brakes didn't work, the steering was not very effective, it wasn't running on all cylinders, the gears had to be changed by a passenger upon hand signals and it had a jury-rigged coolant overflow system, the consequences of which you'll see toward the end of this video. All I can say is, boiling water and steam is HOT!!! I bailed out after the hot water started spurting out in the engine compartment.
That is a ford flathead v8 right. I don't think any one els made flat head v8s at the time.
