Do you think Scream is the reason why horror is dumbed down today? do you think it compares to 80's and 70's slasher movies or is it politically correct horror stuff?

I didn't like Scream.
I liked the original Fly better, it had a better told story. The remake was more effects driven.

do you think the Hostels and Saws are as raw and tough and go for the jugular torture horror movies like Men Behind The Sun, Cannibal Ferox, Ilsa, Guiena Pig etc. and true torture porn?
What do you think of the 90's slasher flicks like Scream? i thought The Fly was better than the laughable original.

@Johnlindsey289 Saw and Hostel are just watered down versions of Category III films from Japan and Hong Kong in the 90s.
No I don't. Few remakes do. The Thing was not a remake in my eyes, it was simply a more accurate film from the book. Even Carpenter wanted to call it Who Goes There? because it was so different than the original. The Fly remake was good but I think story wise the original was better crafted.

What do you think of films like Saw or Hostel? as graphic as the 70's and 80's grindhouse films?

@veronica9956 The only thing the original had over this film was the kills in the original were a lot more heartless and raw. That's one thing I noticed when they do remakes of these films, they take out the raw and unforgiving nature of the original's moments and replace it with more polished, Hollywood style teen kills.
