I was confused because this looks like a s works machine not a tricross.

great, thanks for sharing your setup. I"m not sure if the 2007 is all carbon. At the least I know that the fork and seat stays are all carbon with something called "Zertz-inserts"...not to familiar with this technology. Anyways, thanks again

@landongendur I bought the frame/fork on ebay used in 2009, I paid $450 I believe, (new in 2007 the frame/fork was approx $2k) The fork was upgraded by the previous owner. The components purchased totalled about $750 I believe, a mix of used and new items bought specific for this build.
I try to find most the components I buy off ebay if they are still in good shape, this saves a ton on building a bike.

Looks like a good bike! How much does one of these cost?
Hahaha! I love the cats tail! Nice bike by the way! I have a 2009 tricross comp with upgraded components from 2011. I will also get a pair of road wheels... 'cause you cannot use the ones that came with the bike with road tyres, right?

@TheDanielJet You can use the same wheels, you'd just have to switch out the tires. The wheels can fit a 23c (road) or a 32c (cross) tire. Just easier to switch wheelsets.

How does your "speed" and "gear combinations" feel on your bike when running the road tires? Some forums have claimed that CX bikes with road tires are "significantly" slower than regular road bikes, and that CX gear combinations can feel "underpowered" at higher speeds on paved roads? I'm pretty new to all this information, so I'm not sure how much sense this statement makes. Anyways, any advice or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

@slyboots2345 I have done group rides with this gearing, and have not run out of gear running at 23-25 mph. Just dont run cx tires and expect to keep these speeds, but get a 2nd wheelset for road riding.
The CX bikes can keep up on a fast paced group ride. If you road race on a serious level I would say stay away from a CX bike. If you want flexibility then a CX bike is great for road riding and light trail use.

Great looking bike...i'm currently taking a look at a 2007 Specialized S-Works Carbon Tricross. I see that you're running road bike tires on your CX bike. Is there anything else I'd have to change (besides the tubes and tires) to run road bike tires on CX? Could you also tell me the weight of your bike?
Thanks

@slyboots2345 I wasnt aware there was a carbon tricross for 2007.
As far as using it for road riding, I didnt make any other adjustments than tires. When building the bike up I did choose a cyclocross crankset 34/46 chainrings, which most road bikes will use a 34/50 if your going with a compact crankset.
I perfer the 34/46, it gives me a little bit lower gearing before I have to go to the smaller ring.
The weight is about 19 lbs with the road tires.
