  • Apparently the pay is really good for North Sea Oil Rig pilots, im studying for my fixed wing PPL but i wouldnt mind going in the rotary side of aviation :)

  • i have flew myself, know alot of pilots and have looked into rotary too, the pay is good for the amount of hours you are permitted to fly in a period

  • the tail rotor is running, the just my camera phone not able to capture the images quick enough. Same as when you see a car wheel turning at speed, it looks as if it isnt moving, same thing.

  • @tshirtandties Pay is good but still worse then airliners pilot, plus training for helicopters is much more expensive. But its definetly much more interesting job then airline pilot.

  • @shfullclip9mm AAAAHHH....ok, thx

  • thsirtandties, don't believe everything you read! We might seem like we don't do many hours flying offshore, but there's a bit more to it than being sat in a rubber suit for up to 800hrs a year. Don't forget the annual line checks, day and night, the night deck landings, the Operators proficiency check ecery 6 months and the Licence Proficiency Check every year. (Like doing your driving test every 6 months) Fail it and you have no licence. !!

My advice, go do something completely different!

  • One of the pit falls of filming rotating objects...similar to how wagon wheels appear to turn in the opposite direction on film.

  • how come the back rotor blade wasnt turning?? was it broke???

  • I can't imagine a geordie working offshore, are there alot of you out there?

    joke.

  • whoa that is a wild story shit what an experience....

  • Hope your phone in EX ;)

  • well let me giv u an idea well maintained maybe but some of the choppers used offshore in the north sea are 50 years old i was on one once and something failed we were nearly at rig had to fly all way back 2 foot above the water, then when we got bak to aberdean a man cutting the grass came over with a toolbox tightened a few nuts n off we went again lol didnt screw up again though but dam i was cacking my kegs the whole way back n back out again
