South Dakota Voters to Decide Abortion Law

South Dakota voters are preparing, for the first time since Roe v. Wade, to vote on whether abortion should be legal — more specifically, whether the total abortion ban enacted by the state's male-dominated legislature should be scrapped, or remain in effect.

Here two women — one pro-life, one pro-choice — speak out. Interestingly, they both expect voters to strike down the abortion ban, and make abortion legal again — without the intervention of "activist judges."

@KeithWasHere1 i'm not saying that abortion is a cure for welfare, poverty, etc, i'm saying that these are the ROOT causes why women need to have abortion in the FIRST place, because republicans are so quick to make restrictions on abortion, yet they won't solve these root causes (i.e cutting back on healthcare, education, safe sex programs in schools, and day care funds for single mothers)..you don't want women to have abortions? then focus on these issues! blame the CAUSE, not the reaction.

@KeithWasHere1 im not saying that it never happens that a woman might carelessly have an abortion, i'm sure it's out there, but what i'm saying is that the reason for it being legal is that we respect and trust women enough that they are making the right decisions for themselves, that they are making the right decision for their situation.

@lmd816 yes i have spoken to alot of women that have had abortions and then make the choice not to associate with them,and you are wrong about the revenge or convenience factor it happens, from your stand point it seems abortion is the cure all to welfare,hunger,poverty,and emotional distance again with the convenience.i wont apologize for my viewpoint,abortion and those that condone or perform it are cowards nothing more and nothing less.

And well, that sums up my problem with republicans, that they only care about children up until they are born, then they don't give a shit. until republicans can start giving insightful options on how to handle ALL of the issues surrounding abortion (money, child development, social welfare, health insurance, education, daycare, -- all of which have next to no funding for single mothers) then i will not take them seriously
