I don't undrestand howcome a pregnant woman plays a movie that is very emotionaly and physically demanding( smoking)?
It does not make sense that someone does not care about her child's health!

she doesn't have "conventional beauty" but is definitely a woman I find to be incredibly lovely. she is an amazing actress as well. there's not a movie she's been in that i've seen that i haven't enjoyed. the dedication to her parts is something i can really respect but i hope that in the future she was able to find a way to not be THAT effected by her roles. she is a freagin' amazin mom as well. just an all around person that deserves my admiration.

@koyalee77 omg I was going to write the same thing. Everything in this movie can and does really happen. There was nothing hollywood about it. I never even considered that a victim of sex abuse could still have a "loving" relationship with their abuser. The way she was acting with her father was the most disturbing and fascinating, yet realistic thing I ever saw.

@oldiferente yeah, I agree. People always wanna cast drop dead gorgeous actress who don't even have a fraction of the talent actresses like maggie have. It just really shows that you don't have to look like angelina jolie to make be a commanding actress. Every movie Maggie is in she is amazing-- Mona Lisa Smile, she totally overshadowed katie holmes' character rachel in the Dark Knight and katie holmes is clearly more attractive. Maggie rocks.

I swear Maggie played this role so good I thought she really did come from trash. One of my fav movies of all times.

i think she'd be a cool woman to get to know.

The woman doing the narration has the worst voice...it makes me wanna jump out of a window. Oh God.

She talks about her role like it's the most important thing for her, which, I believe, is the right way to do things. She's beautiful without being pretty and I like her for that.
great movie, maggie is excellent

This is the MOST REAL, MOST TRUE -TO-LIFE movie I believe I've EVER seen. Maggie's performance is so natural and convincing that it's scary. It feels like your watching a real-life documentary, not a movie. This goes waaaaaaayyyyy past excellent, There really are no words that can describe how perfect this film is.
