Wow, Lynne you are great at this! I am not quite able to figure out HOW they don't get tangled. I think I may be purling wrong, in looking at how you purl you wrap the yarn round the needle.

I would still think that it is double knitting in the same sense as double knitting is sometimes used to create a singular tube. I had heard about this technique before but was hard pressed to find any kind of instruction on it. I guess I just didn't know how to look it up.
