Awesome review. I agree 100% with everything you said.
I'm so glad that there's someone else out there who appreciates the qualities of the original trilogy. Your comparison of the truck scene from Raiders to the new film was a perfect exposition of the ways in which special effects detract from the authenticity of the feeling of danger.
I also agree that the story of this movie was too "out there". Alien spaceships and Indiana Jones do not mix.
