I don't know much about Ellroy. But there is more wisdom in that six minute interview then there is in a one hour interview with most other writers.
I consider him a horror writer. Not because horror is his genre, which it is not. But his writing style is so dark and fearsome it eclipses anything supernatural you'll find in Stephen King. And I'm not surprised to find he read witchcraft books as a child.
This interview is worth a second listen.

Ellroy is a compelling speaker. And Rebecca has not only picked the right questions to put to him, but has also responed well on the spot. Love that bit when she querries about the fact that all the books she saw in his office were those by Ellroy himself.
