I know it probably doesn't help much at the time, but somehow I feel a bit encouraged just knowing that what you and I have experienced has been experienced by many, many others. Somehow it helps, knowing that others understand what it's like. I hope that helps you also on some level.

Never heard of dalidun. But I was put on Demerol for my first stone, back in '91, and it worked well, at least for a few hours.

@kimchiman1000 my insurance kicked in dec 1st.....first visit was nov 30 so i got screwed there for a few 1000 but hopefully my 2 day stay is covered. if not ill be in debt for the rest of my life. im 27/m BTW so it sucks. UPDATE: got some lipaderm pain patches and they work wounders on pain. my mom had a spinal fusion and had boxes of these things ( 500 USD a box of 24) and they really help with painkillers. still when the killer pain sets in nothing helps but a IV of dalidun.

People who have not experienced it just have no idea at all. That's insane about the med bills! So many times I've thought about moving to the States, but you know, this one thing alone is enough that I'll NEVER live there. How does one survive such large med bills? Insanity is not even strong enough a word.

@raymenendez (most she ever seen in 11 years) i am looking at surgery if the pain does not stop. all from a TINY 1MM stone. this sucks so bad i wish it upon no man or woman.i have had second degree burns, broke hand, fingers, fractured knee cap, NOTHING amounts to the pain from this kidney stone...NOTHING.

i been to the ER 2 times since mondy for a killer kidney stone. went in monday left same night, stayed off work tues went in wed was ok then on thursday i got the worst pain of my life. was shaking and throwing up on myself. spent 2 days in the hospital looking at over 60,000 in medical bills and the stone has not passed yet. I have been taking the flomax and painkillers drinking lemon jucie and EVOO with tons of water daily. in the hospital i had 10 800ML bags of fluid.

brkinzoo you are telling the truth i have passed 2 so far and got 5 more to go the pain is unlike anything i have ever experienced
My first one was two weeks ago, it was the size of a BB. Hospital bill was $12,000, and I passed it two hours after I got home. No insurance so I will have to deal with it the next time.

You know, I've never given it a lot of thought before, but keeping in mind that I could potentially pass more stones in the future, I think it would probably not be a good idea for me to live there. $12000 is almost more pain than what the stones give you. You have my sympathy.
