That's in the comics. SEGA Sonic is different from Archie. This Dr. Eggman is very human and alive.

Eggman is just a a robotic like android now. He isn't even human anymore. I found that happened like befor sonic adventure I think. Its sort of like robotnic is and atificial intellagence now. If one body is destroyed he just sort downloads into the nearest machine till he can rebuild himself. That why he hasn't died in all the explosions sonice has caused.
