A case commissioned by `The Worshipful Company of Bowyers` produced for their `exhibition of its muniments and possessions` held in London. Containing (in the top half) examples of self Yew war bows in various stages of production and a cross section of Yew to show where the bow section are cut from. Also shown is an example of a Victorian sporting Longbow of traditional triple laminate design. The bow examples are cut into sections to allow for the length of the case.
In the bottom half of the case are some traditional Bowyers tools, taken from a 17th century woodcut showing Bowyers tools and tools used in the Victorian era that we still use today. It is hoped it will also be on display at the London bridge 800th anniversary celebrations on Saturday 11th July 2009.
