This moment is in Shakespeare, Julius Caesar. "Et tu, Brute?" - Caesar stops struggling when he see that Brutus is among the conspirators. That's why Jesse turns his back. But I think a part of him still hopes, perhaps naively, that Ford will not pull the trigger and they can both be pulled back from the brink. It's part suicide, part peace offering.
