Story
Camp Nolan in Arghendab valley came under attack from Taliban insurgents on Saturday (September 11).

U.S. soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division returned fire from inside the camp using a range of weapons including rocket launchers.

Camp Nolan has been in existence since early July and has been under fire almost on a daily basis.

The camp is one of a series of field posts set up to help prevent Taliban insurgents infiltrating Kandahar city from the northwest.

The campaign to secure the Taliban's birthplace of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan is a central objective of President Barack Obama's revised war effort and will feature prominently in a White House strategy review in December.
