Part 2 of the Rain Barrel Water Collection System. Consists of four 55 gallon plastic drums that will allow for the collection of up to 220 gallons of water. The system catches the rain water from a 24 x 24 foot garage using the downspouts. The system is also raised to be just under the gutter for better gravity pressure flow of water.

  • most of the videos that i have seen say that you don't want a white barrel, due to fungus growth. Also, why didn't you just use a piece of clear hose running up the side of a barrel to see the level. maybe even put a ping pong ball in the clear hose to see the level

I thought about doing this. When I was first getting barrels, I only could get a white one. That is why the rest of the barrels are blue (I now have 12 barrels total in my system).

  • Thanks for some of your great ideas. I built myself a similar system for my garden, however not as large as yours but it should do ok for what i need. You can view it on my channel and let me know what you think. I am just starting out my garden and having a great time!!

  • The bolts that connect the 2x6's to the 4x4 posts need to be driven home to ensure a proper connection. I know they are too long but you cannot rely on the threads to make your connection. The head of the bolt and a washer is the proper way to ensure long term rigidity and structural integrity.
