Bootsy (OctoMom, or Octopussy) is a stray who found her way to my door one day. She got along well with my other (neutered) cat, so she was able to share food and occasionally stay the night in a safe warm place here. In Feb, she went into heat and as best as the vet and I can figure, she conceived around Valentines Day. Of course, she got knocked up (thank you irresponsible pet owners for not spaying). Once I figured out she was 'with kitten' I kept her inside for her safety. Bootsy is a little tiny cat, but somehow she managed to carry 8 kittens to term. The first was delivered on April 20, and the other 7 arrived on April 21. I thought she might have problems because she was so small, but she did SO well! Bootsy has been ONE HECK of an amazing mama kitty!
All 8 babies plus OctoMom are FLV/FIV neg, healthy as can be, and developing quite well. They can all get out of their "crib" now and some are eating soft kitten food (licking it, actually). They're playful, socialize with humans very well, even with my 18 month old granddaughter!
The little ones will be ready for adoption around the 4th of July this year. I think I already have 6 of the 8 spoken for (adopted). There are seven boys and one girl.
