Turbo prop A400M with the need of only 800m long runway and ability to manouver in high G-forces is a good replacement for old C-130s, even US army wants A400Ms.

Nice plane for small stuff and short ranges, but cancel the project and buy c-17 Globemasters instead! Why? A400 M is too small (its 37 t max freight does not fit a fully equipped AFV Puma which weighs 43 t), it's too expensive (est. 190 mio. EUR per unit) and it's too late (first delivery set for 3/2013)! Globemaster fits 77 t, costs 140 mio EUR p.u. is also STOL-capable and readily available!

This plane is in MAG and it does look alot like a C-17 with props. It would be nice to see these in the air.
is it true that you can not drop something in flight to the back?? i heart that the back dore is not good

@BadTwin25 It's true. LAPES system is not implemented in A400M, because is cosidered so dangerous for aircraft deployer. All freidht must be unload by machines or human work.

Hey look, they left some duct tape of the rear stabilizer

@elsie911 jajaja These "duck tape" are sensors to measure the flight environment.

Forgive me, I don't know everything about aircraft, BUT...here in the year 2010, we're still using prop-drives??? Why???
Beautiful plane, tho...

WearWulf say: The turboprops are more efficient and more easy to maintenance in remote airfields, where the dust is the king...
