After years of abuse and neglect I decided to do a major refinish on my strip built sea kayak "Petrel". Over the years I've left this trusty boat strapped to the roof of my car in the sun, I've been slammed against rocks and busted in one side of the boat, I've dragged it up beaches and left it outside, uncovered all winter.
All this abuse eventually took its toll. While the boat was still perfectly serviceable, it was looking a little ragged. I still bring the boat to shows and felt it didn't quite do my work justice any more.
I decided to peel off the fiberglass, sand it down, re-stain and re-fiberglass the boat. I used a heat gun to soften up the epoxy and strip off the fiberglass.
That was great, I would have tried to sand the epoxy...much better here. Thanks for posting.

outstanding, how hot do you think that epoxy gets before it starts to let go the wood?
