Msgr. Pacelli started criticizing Hitler & the Nazis in the early twenties and never stopped until the Nazis took control of Rome during the war. And he did far more than just criticize. Pius XII, as a Catholic pope, sat in on the assassination plans against Hitler in 1938, 1940 and only got cold feet in during the attempt in 1944. He himself one of the conspirators! In the middle of the Russian war, Stalin, was not as formidable an enemy of HItler as was Pius XII.

Of course he has to act in silence and not 24/7 crtiticizing Hitler's party since it may cause a bigger disaster... his silence should be viewed as an act pf rpudence not of cowardness.

It's almost as if this film should be titled, The Man Who Would Be Pope. The footage here is remarkable for its historic perspective, not to mention the rather horrific film of developing Naziism and Fascism, and the sad destruction of the Russian churches under Stalin.

I can immagine, it could be more beautiful to show only the scenes whit Pacelli but I think that he was great just because there were such events to face, because on the contrary he would have been just an unknow ecclesiastic. These 3 videos are good to show, as an anticipation of his pontificate, to the people that calls him as the Hitler's Pope that this isn't the truth, that he has fought those ideologies and helped, in the silence, the Hebrews.
