My Work on TRON

I was a Dizzney effects animator on TRON in 1982. These "pencil tests" show some of the raw animation as it was shot for testing and approval. Mostly I did sparks, electricity, frisbies and war room map graphics. You'd be surprised how much of TRON was *not* created by computers. It was a massive effort of tedious hand animation.

COOL!!!! Tilenut, did you shoot this off of an old Steenbeck film editing bench? Also, were you contacted about working on TRON Legacy? Just curious. Thanks for sharing.

These were transferred from 35mm film to video, professionally. Part of my "Demo Reel".

I was not contacted to work on TRON Legacy, I think new guard at the studio wanted little to do with the Old Guard who made TRON. Too retro!

yea, i remember hearing in the making of that there were "almost 15 minutes" of CGI and that "more than 20 of them" combined computer animation with live action and being kind of shocked. these videos (this and the pencil dance video) are really fascinating. did you do a lot of these things for other movies?
